Ronald A. Oppedisano was elected as Village President in April 2009, for a full four-year term, after the death of Earl J. Field. Ron had served as Village Trustee and Chaiman of the Streets, Sidewalks, and Alleys, and Information Technology Committee since 1998. As a Trustee, Ron also serves on the Law and Ordinance Committee and on the Village Properties, Environment and Economic Development Committee; and he has led the way for the formulation of a Master Plan for the future development of our Village. Ron is also a member of the Emergency Telephone System (911) Board. Appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals by Mayor Joseph Sieb in 1991; Ron served as a regular member of that board until he was appointed Chairman of the Zoning Board in early 1998. Ron, whose family moved to Norridge in 1961, graduated from Divine Savior School (Class of 1969). He and his wife Linda have three children. He has been an active volunteer and coach for many years in the Norridge Youth Activities (NYA) and Norridge Park District youth sports programs, which he himself participated in as a child. Upon receiving his real estate sales license from the State of Illinois in 1975 at the age of 19, Ron became the youngest person ever to be licensed by the State of Illinois in that capacity after undergoing a stringent set of course requirements. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Planning & Environmental Studies from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago in 1978. Upon graduation, he continued to sell real estate as a licensed real estate broker for many years for his family’s Real Estate business, which had been located in Norridge since the 1960's and was a member of the Northwest Real Estate Board’s Million Dollar Sales Club. Ron is the owner of a real estate appraisal / consulting firm. He has been awarded the MAI designation by the Appraisal Institute; that is the most recognized designation for real estate appraisers and it demonstrates the highest level of expertise in the appraisal field. In addition, he is a Past Chairman of the Ad Valorem Taxation Committee of the Appraisal Institute, and he served on the Institute's Admissions Committee; he is Certified by the State of Illinois as a General Real Estate Appraiser; and he is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Illinois, although he no longer practices in the real estate brokerage/sales field. Ron’s positions with the Village of Norridge were not his first in Government, having also worked for the Cook County Assessor’s Office for eight years in various capacities. As a member of the Assessors Office Speakers Bureau, he addressed community, civic and professional groups, corporations and property owners to acquaint them with the Cook County Ad Valorem taxation process and how homeowners could contest their real estate taxes. While with the Assessors Office, Ron was the author of many valuation manuals, taught several courses related to Real Estate Appraisal/Assessment; and was awarded the Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE) designation by the International Association of Assessing Officers, signifying the highest level of achievement among property assessors, along with the Certified Illinois Assessing Officer (CIAO) designation by the Illinois Property Assessment Institute. Judith Dunne Bernardi has been Village Clerk since May 1996. In addition to her duties as Clerk, she is also in charge of the Village Hall. She is a graduate of DePaul University with High Honors, and a graduate of the Municipal Clerks' Institute. Ms. Bernardi represents Norridge on the O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission, where she has been elected Treasurer, and is Vice Chair of the Residential Sound Insulation Committee and a Member of the Technical Committee. Her Directorships include: the Ridgewood High School Foundation; Norridge Cares, the local successor to United Way; and Central Baptist Village where she is Secretary of the Board of Directors. She and her husband, John, have lived in Norridge since 1973.
The Dean of the Village Board, Ursula A. Kucharski was appointed to fill a vacancy in 1981, and has served with distinction ever since. She has continually served as Chairperson of the Police Committee, where she has helped guide the modernization of the best village police departments anywhere. Her extensive experience and no-nonsense approach to government has made her an invaluable part of the Village Board. In the private sector, Ms. Kucharski was in the banking business for more than 40 years and retired from LaSalle Bank.
Dominic Falagario was elected to a four-year term as a Village Trustee in 1999. As a Trustee, he chairs the Law and Ordinance Committee. Most notably, he sits on the Advisory Review Committee. He also serves as a member of the Finance and License, and the Streets, Sidewalks and Alleys Committees. An active community member, Dominic served as Norridge Park District President and Commissioner for eighteen years. He also was involved in the Norridge Youth Activities as coach and manager for ten years. He served on a telecommunications advisory committee in 1997, and was a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals. He was one of the Founders of the Greater Illinois Semi-Pro Baseball League representing the Norridge Park District, along with the Pre-School, Day Care, and Adult Recreation Centers at Ridgewood High School. A retired executive from American Stores, Inc. (Jewel Food Stores), Dominic served as the head of store planning and development. He holds a degree in Architectural Engineering and Design and was active with the Architectural Review Committee and the National Institute of Store Planners, his professional associations. Dominic has resided in Norridge for the past 38 years.
Robert Martwick was elected as a Village Trustee in 1999 and serves as the Chairman of the Economic Development and Environment Committee. Rob is an attorney who practices real estate taxation law. Prior to entering private practice, Rob served as an Assistant State's Attorney in the Cook County States Attorney's Office where he was a lead prosecutor in the Domestic Violence Unit. Rob is a former Trustee for Norwood Park Township, where he helped create the Township Youth Council and After School Reading Program, and served as a director of the Township Officials of Illinois.
A Real Estate Sales Professional by trade, Jacqueline Gregorio has been a resident of Norridge for the last 28 years. Jackie has always sought to improve our village and has demonstrated that dedication by serving for three years as president of the Ridgewood High School Parents Club and 8 years on the Ridgewood High School Board, and she has run the Lucky Losers Fundraiser for the last 14 years. She is the co-founder and a director of the Ridgewood High School Foundation, and she serves as a member on Norridge Cares and Senior Assistance Center boards. This dedication to our village not only earned her respect and admiration, but in 2001 it earned her an invitation to bring her skill to the Village Board. Since her election as Trustee in 2001, Jackie has headed the Finance and License Committee, where she has served with distinction. In her private life she has 3 children and 7 grandchildren all of whom reside in Norridge.
Trustee Dennis Stefanowicz Dennis H. Stefanowicz was elected as Trustee in April 2005. He is the Chairman of the Water, Sewer and Utilities Committee. He is a life-long Norridge Resident who has dedicated his professional career to public service and his personal life to the community in which he lives. Professionally, Dennis has been a member of the Norwood Park Fire Department for 36 years, serving as Chief for the last 8. In this capacity, he has been responsible for the health and safety of 60,000 people, and has administrated a budget which exceeds 4 million dollars. Dennis also has 14 years of experience with the Village of Norridge, serving most recently in 2000 and 2001 as Trustee on an interim basis. He served as Building Commissioner from 1988-1996, and as a member of the Electrical Commission, the Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Northwest Building and Code Officials. For 16 years, Dennis served on the District 80 School Board, including 13 years as president. He currently serves on the 911 Emergency Board.
Dominic Sulimowski was appointed on May 27, 2009 to fill the theTrustee position vacated by Ronald A. Oppedisano, who had been elected President.
Dominic has been active in the community for over 30 years. He was elected in 2004 as Trustee of the Norwood Park Fire Protection District. He was elected as President of the Board in 2006. He is also an active member of the Norridge Veterans Committee and serves as the Master of Ceremonies for the Memorial Day service. Dominic is also a Vietnam Era Veteran.
He has served as an officer of the Norridge Youth Association (NYA), President of Norridge Little League, Member/President of the Divine Savior School Board, and is an active member of Divine Savior Church. He is a past member of the Norridge Zoning Board and also served as Building Commissioner for the Village of Norridge.
Dominic is a graduate of Weber High School. After high school he attended Triton Community College and graduated with High Honors. He continued on at Elmhurst College where he also graduated with High Honors. He holds Certificates in Logistics Management from DePaul University and the University of Georgia Tech.
Dominic was employed with AT&T for almost 30 years. When Dominic retired he was Director of Fleet Operations. Dominic brings a no-nonsense management approach to business. He believes in creating efficiencies in processes and operations. Dominic also believes that all elected officials are accountable to the the taxpayers of the Village of Norridge.
